JANUARY TON UP 30/01/2014

So that's January just about over and hope the weather is going to treat us a bit better in the coming months. I always start my year list and set myself a target of one hundred for the month, needless to say I usually fail miserably, but hey got out this morning and again this afternoon and for the first time ever I got it. ONE HUNDRED AND THREE.
I can tell you a lot of people have probably done more but I am chuffed to bits.
So a few images below from the last few days, and February bring it on.

ST GOTHIAN SANDS & GWENNAP 25/01/2014

On Saturday I took a drive down to St Gothian Sands NR to see what was about, good munbers of Gulls and Ducks on the main pool but nothing out of the ordinary.
Still I did manage to get a few shots of a very nice Grey Wagtail and Meadow Pipit which are below.
On the way back along the coast road I stopped at Hell's Mouth and got Fulmar and Manx Shearwater on the year list.
The bottom image of the two foxes I took at Gwennap earlier in the week.

GREAT NORTHERN DIVER & PURPLE SANDPIPER 17/1/2014

Popped down west to Penzance this morning to top up the year list, main object was to get the Purple Sandpipers at Jubilee pool.
I did manage to find Nine in one group huddled on the rocks and managed to get a few decent images, also close in were  couple of Great Northern Divers and these also gave good photo opportunities.
So all in all a good morning, and on the way back I stopped at Hayle Estuary and got a few more species on the list.
So the new ones were Purple Sands, Sanderling, Black-Necked Grebe,Dunlin,Ringed Plover,
Golden Plover, Grey Plover and Greenshank., the list now stands at 87.

GREYLAG GEESE ( MARAZION ).

Just a few shots of some Greylag Geese that were taken at Marazion over the weekend, there were four flying around the Reserve on a beautiful sunny morning.
Only shame was there was not much else for the camera to focus on, still have better times to look forward to.

NEW YEAR 2014 (BRING IT ON ).

Firstly a very HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone, hope its the best ever for you.
So finally managed to get out after all the seasons festivities, and the storms curtailing things some what.
Yesterday I took a trip down to Hayle to get some birding under my belt and start the year list off, really high tide had pushed everything well in so it gave the opportunity for a bit of photography to get my eye in.
It certainly made a difference seeing some sunshine for a change and the light levels picking up.
So a few images below from the mornings outing which was very enjoyable, and to boot the list stands at 69 for the moment.
