COMMON DARTER .

Paid a visit to Stithians Res yesterday afternoon,on the bird side things were very quiet with just a couple of Greenshank at the Golden Lion end, and three Wheatears off the Southern Causeway plus all the usual species.

On the way back from the old hide I came across the Dragonfly below, I have not had much luck photographing dragonflies this year so really needed to get something in the bag.

I spent half an hour with this one, and not being an expert I have ID this one as a Vagrant Darter, so apologies if I'm wrong and would stand to be corrected.

Sue from JR & SUE have identified this as a Common Darter so thanks Sue I really was not sure.

  1. Hi Monty
Looking at the 2 yellow panels on the side of the thorax (picture 3)I think this may be a Common Darter. Good shots though. Sue

  2. Thanks Sue
The only shots in my books show top shots only, so thanks for that and I will edit my post.

  5. Lovely photos, Monty! It seems such a shame that before very long the damsels dragons and butterflies will disappear for another year.
