MESSING AROUND

Just put these two macro images up which were taken last year, as I have been messing around with the blog making a few changes and wanted to post something,
I have not identified these two flowers so if anyone can give me the names it would be appreciated.

MONOCHROME ARCHIVE : GREEK URN

Trolling through a few folders from last year, I came across this Monochrome image taken at Trengwainton Gardens Penzance last year. This Greek Urn was tucked away in a obscure corner and it  just asked to have its picture taken.
Why I have not posted it before I don't know as it makes a very nice and different subject.

OFF MY BLOG

I'm afraid I have been guilty of gross neglect over the past 2 1/2 weeks as I have not looked at my blog or anyone else's,and for that I do apologise. It seem that everything I Photographed was not good enough, add to that the fact that I was without transport for 5 weeks whilst waiting the outcome from the Insurance Co (They finally wrote the car off as to expensive to repair). So I was just left with wandering around the local patch, and I could not Photograph anything I had not already posted. needless to say it was a gloomy time.
So the last couple of weeks were spent sorting out some new transport (which I now have) and I am upwardly mobile once more.
So have been out a couple of times over the last week and finally managed to get a few images to post. These are nothing special just some ordinary species I came across while chasing that Dammed elusive Golden Eagle that been around for a few weeks, and I have still not caught up with it. I go in one direction and it turns up in the opposite.
Anyway its good to be back and I hope the short break will have done me some good and I will try to catch up on all your blogs over the next few days.

LOW TIDE ST MICHEALS MOUNT

This image of St Micheals Mount at low tide clearly shows the causeway which makes it accessible to walkers at low tide.
At High tide there is a small ferry service across from Marazion, I think maybe this year it will be worth taking a walk across and doing some images around the Mount.

Trelawney sung at Helston

As an appendix to the previous post I would like to share with you a group of Cornish stout and true singing the Cornish National Anthem "Trelawney"

'Trelawny'A good sword and a trusty hand!

A faithful heart and true!

King James's men shall understand

What Cornish lads can do!

And have they fixed the where and when?

And shall Trelawny die?

Here's twenty thousand Cornish men

Will know the reason why!

Chorus

And shall Trelawny live?

And shall Trelawny die?

Here's twenty thousand Cornish men

Will know the reason why!

Out spake their Captain brave and bold:

A merry wight was he:

Though London Tower were Michael's hold,

We'll set Trelawny free!

'We'll cross the Tamar, land to land:

The Severn is no stay:

With "one and all," and hand in hand;

And who shall bid us nay?

Chorus

And shall Trelawny live?

And shall Trelawny die?

Here's twenty thousand Cornish men

Will know the reason why!

And when we come to London Wall,

A pleasant sight to view,

Come forth! come forth! ye cowards all:

Here's men as good as you.

'Trelawny he's in keep and hold;

Trelawny he may die:

Here's twenty thousand Cornish bold

Will know the reason why

Chorus
And shall Trelawny live?

And shall Trelawny die?

Here's twenty thousand Cornish men

Will know the reason why!

A LITTLE PIECE OF HISTORY

For a change a little slice of Cornish History, apart from being a land of myths and legend Cornwall has a very strong Celtic heritage.
At the present time there has been a big resurgence in the Cornish Language being taught in various places around the county.
There is also a national flag, which is the flag of St Piran the patron saint of Cornwall which is shown in my header.
Also Cornwall has its own Tartan which is mainly used in the manufacture of Cornish Kilts, the colours of the cloth all have a significant meaning which is explained in the information below the image. This was copied from the Cornwall website.
True Cornish men and woman in all corners of the world still retain a strong identity with their native county, as do all true Cornish inhabitants.

Cornwall even has a national tartan. Designed by E E Morton-Nance (registered as #1567), the Cornish tartan colours all have a special meaning: White on black for the flag of St Piran; Red for the beak and legs of the Cornish Chough; Blue for the sea that surrounds Cornwall; and Black and gold for the colours of the ancient Cornish kings.

BACK TO MACRO

Have just started getting the garden sorted out as we have had a very nice week weather wise, also I noticed that one or two insects were on the move, although most were very small and quite lively.
Anyway put the Macro lens on the Camera, the first time since last Autumn and managed to get the first Flesh Fly of the year. Also it seemed a shame not to take an image of some Crocuses open in the Sunshine.
I also had the first Peacock Butterfly come and land next to me but it was to quick for a Photo.

ODDS AND ENDS.

They say it never rains but it pours, and that seems to be the case at the moment. On the day before my sisters funeral, my wife and I were heading home after a short shopping trip, the weather was bad heavy rain and we took a back road as the main route was very congested with traffic. Following another car about three miles from home it went over a very large rock in the middle of the road and the first I saw it came rolling out from underneath and right under my car.
Now my car is very low at the front so on its journey from front to back it smashed the oil sump seized the engine and made quite a few large dents on the underside.
To cut a long story short had to be recovered home by breakdown and its now in the hands of my insurance company, and they don't know if it will be repaired or written off. the good thing was neither of us were hurt and at the end of the day its only a piece of metal.
So have had a courtesy car for a week and that goes back today so for a short while it will be Shanks Pony.

Ok on to more cheery things, I have only been out a couple of times in the past two weeks and the weather has not been great, so not many images to show for my efforts. The images below are of a trip to Sennen Cove near lands on a very stormy day, and are the best I managed to get. The other two images were taken on a short visit to Tehidy Woods.
