MONO MONDAY (CARN BREA CASTLE )

Took this image last week, its of a hunting lodge but is known locally as Carn Brea Castle. It's at the top of a local Carn which overlooks The Redruth /Camborne area.

Carn Brea Castle
The medieval Carn Brea Castle stands near the top of the hill. This was originally built as a chapel, in 1379, probably dedicated to St Micheal before being rebuilt in the 18th century by the Basset family as a hunting lodge. It is considered a folly castle, due to the huge uncut boulders that make up part of its foundations, giving the impression of the building melting into the land. In the 1980s the abandoned building was converted into a Middle Eastern Cuisine restaurant. The stolen Ford Anglia featured in the Harry Potter Films films was found at the Castle in 2006.

  1. I do like that Monty, it really lends itself to black and white. I don't think it would look as imposing in colour.

By the way, thanks for the comment you left on my blog this morning. I think you may have intended to leave it on my latest post but scrolled down a little too far. It's no problem at all and I only mention it in case you come back to see my reply (which I haven't done yet) and wonder where your comment is!
